General   Dynamis   Information

Starting Dynamis

Requirements
Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply to all Dynamis areas:

1. Level 65 or higher.
2. Completion of Mission 5-2 for your nation.
3*. Completion of Chains of Promathia Chapter 3-5: Darkness Named.

* only required to enter Dreamworld Dynamis areas

After meeting the above requirements, zone into Xarcabard. You will receive a cutscene. Following this, examine one set of Trail Markings to receive another cutscene. The Trail Markings can be found just outside each residential area entrance in Windurst Walls, Southern San d'Oria, Bastok Mines or Ru'Lude Gardens. You do not need to visit them all, one will suffice. You will then receive the Key Item Vial of Shrouded Sand. This Key Item is needed to access both groups of Dynamis-related services (Original Dynamis areas and Dreamworld Dynamis areas). Additionally, to enter Dynamis - Beaucedine, one must clear Dynamis - San d'Oria, Dynamis - Bastok, Dynamis - Windurst and Dynamis - Jeuno; to enter Dynamis - Xarcabard one must clear Dynamis - Beaucedine; to enter Dynamis - Tavnazia, one must clear Dynamis - Valkurm, Dynamis - Buburimu and Dynamis - Qufim.

Entering Dynamis

1. To gain access to a Dynamis area, your group must have a Timeless Hourglass. These can be obtained by trading 1,000,000 gil to one of the Goblin NPCs waiting by the entrances to Beadeaux (Haggleblix), Davoi (Lootblox) or Castle Oztroja (Antiqix). Only one Timeless Hourglass will be required for all members to enter a Dynamis area.

2. The Timeless Hourglass can then be traded to sets of Trail Markings or Hieroglyphics, depending on area entered. This will turn it into a Perpetual Hourglass.

3. From the moment the sands of the Perpetual Hourglass begin to fall, the area of Dynamis corresponding to the location will become reserved.

4. By using the Perpetual Hourglass as an item, the Hourglass will create a copy of itself. This can be used to create an infinite number of Perpetual Hourglasses for other people to enter the same Dynamis area, though only the maximum number specified for that area may actually enter.

5. During the reservation period, anyone in possession of the Hourglass (or an Hourglass created from that original Hourglass) can enter that area.

6. Trading the Perpetual Hourglass to the Trail Markings or Hieroglyphics a second time will teleport the player to the reserved area of Dynamis. If this is your first time entering the area, you will receive a short cutscene. (You will not receive this cutscene on successive visits.)

Goblin NPCs

4 Goblin NPCs located at the entrances to the original FFXI Beastmen strongholds are in charge of almost everything related to Ancient Currency and Relic Weapon upgrades. 1 Goblin is in charge of Orcish currency, another one handles Quadav currency and the third one is dedicated to Yagudo currency. The 4th Goblin is the one to talk to when upgrading a Relic Weapon.

One must be in possession of the Vial of Shrouded Sand key item in order to be able to trade with these Goblins. The possible transactions are:

1*. Timeless Hourglass ⇒ obtained by trading 1,000,000 gil.

2*. Several crafting items (usually needed for certain Relic Upgrade steps) - these items can also be obtained by other means, some drop in Dynamis, some drop from HNMs, etc. ⇒ obtained by trading a set amount of Ancient Currency (note that these items are extremely overpriced and that it would be stupid to spend so much money on these as they can be obtained in much more profitable ways).

3*. Ancient Currency exchange ⇒ by trading either one 100 or one 10,000 piece (to obtain the equivalent in smaller pieces), either by trading hundred single or hundred 100 pieces (to obtain the equivalent in a single bigger piece).

4**. Relic Weapon upgrade ⇒ by trading the required items and a proper Ancient Currency fee.

* only possible with Haggleblix (Beadeaux), Lootblox (Davoi) and Antiqix (Castle Oztroja).
** only possible with Switchstix (Castle Zvahl Baileys).

Switchstix (Castle Zvahl Baileys)

This Goblin NPC can upgrade Relic Weapons to their second, third and fourth stages, given the requested items and commission in Ancient Currency. The fifth and final stage of each weapon is not handled directly by Switchstix, but by the Relic Weapon itself. Instructions detailing how to upgrade Relic Weapons to their final forms can be found on the Dynamis Equipment page.

Dynamis rules

Time: Beginning from the exact time the first Perpetual Hourglass is traded to a set of Trail Markings or Hieroglyphics, you will be given exactly one hour (Earth time) in a Dynamis area per reservation, not accounting for time extensions obtained through defeating certain enemies (these can increase Dynamis time to a maximum of 210 minutes, or three and a half hours). Time limit warnings will be displayed when 10 minutes and 3 minutes remain. (The time your "reservation" expires will always be listed in the item description of each Perpetual Hourglass held.) When the time limit expires, all Perpetual Hourglasses created for that session of Dynamis will become void, and all players in the zone will be removed after 30 additional seconds pass. At this point, it is no longer possible to obtain time extensions.

Leaving: It is possible to leave Dynamis before time has expired. This is typically done by dropping your Perpetual Hourglass or selling it in a Bazaar. Each participant in Dynamis must keep the Perpetual Hourglass in his/her inventory in order to remain in Dynamis; if it is ever dropped or sold, they will be removed from Dynamis after 30 seconds pass, similar to what happens when the time limit on the hourglass expires. As with all other areas, you may also leave Dynamis by being KO'd and Home Pointing, or through teleporting magic or items (such as Warp or Instant Warp). You may re-enter the same area without restriction as long as time has not expired and you still have a Perpetual Hourglass for that session.

Reentering: You may re-enter Dynamis before your Perpetual Hourglass has expired, however, a character re-entering Dynamis will be weakened for 10 minutes. After your time in Dynamis has expired, 72 hours (Earth time) must pass since your initial entering before you may enter any Dynamis area again. Note that trading a Perpetual Hourglass to a set of Trail Markings or Hieroglyphics is counted as entering a Dynamis area, even if you do not actually warp inside Dynamis.

Clearing: Examining the ??? after the boss for the Dynamis area is defeated will grant a Key Item (specific to the Dynamis area) and a title change. After the win, you can check the "Trail Markings" again for another cutscene to progress the story along. Viewing the cutscene is not required.

KO: Experience Points are still lost if you are defeated within Dynamis; it is not possible to gain Experience or Limit Points through defeating enemies in these areas, though it is possible to regain Experience Points through using found items that grant it, such as Copies of "Ginuva's Battle Theory" and Copies of "Schultz Stratagems".

Maximum number of players: In all original Dynamis areas (Cities and Northlands) 64 players can enter the zone at the same time. This limit has been reduced to a maximum of 36 players for the 3 base Dreamworld areas and to 18 players for Dynamis - Tavnazia. Linkshells doing Dynamis have to be careful who they hand out Perpetual Hourglasses to; it doesn't matter how many hourglasses with the same reservation exist (there can be more than the maximum amount of players allowed in the zone), but once the maximum number of players inside the zone has been reached, all players left outside who still own a copy of the Perpetual Hourglass will be unable to enter the zone, even if some of the players who already entered leave the area. This means that for example only 36 people can get the win during the same Dynamis - Valkurm run, it is not possible to switch out people to give more players the win.
